Voices of Genocide Exhibit

Yom HaShoah, the 27th of Nisan, is the day to mourn the loss of six million Jews and thousands of years of European Jewish culture. It is personal within families; it is communal, it is cultural. Our world will forever be different as we respond to the Holocaust even as the generation of survivors is coming to an end.
That is why we have heard from survivors, participated in experiential liturgies, studied the history, and connected with artistic responses.
Yet, because we are human, it is inevitable that we seek meaning in our experience. The phrase: “Never Again” is evidence of that.
This year, the Illinois Holocaust Museum will offer the exhibition “Voices of Genocide” which explores how and why genocide continues to occur across geography and time. The exhibit features survivors and descendants of the genocides in Armenia, Guatemala, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Rwanda, and Burma.
David Miller will be our docent. We will gather at the Museum for an 11 am tour and program. Admission is $12 for seniors.
